## Share flight data to open in Inspector 5

The following steps will guide how to export and open flights in Inspector 5. If sharing an entire workspace, just copy the folder and share.

{% hint style="info" %}
NB: When sharing via file sharing/cloud services, it is recommended to zip the folder with 0 compression before uploading/sending.
{% endhint %}

It is important to maintain the complete folder structure along with folder and file naming when archiving and sharing projects. Any changes should be done through the Inspector 5 user interface, and not in Windows file explorer.

For more information on the file structure: [Inspector 5 User Manual](/software/inspector/inspector-5.md#documentation)

### **How to export the flight/s to share**

**Open** Inspector 5 and select the workspace that contains data to be shared.

1. **Click** the **(1)** *Export tab* in the left sidebar.
2. **Click** the **(2)** *Browse* button to **s**elect/create a folder to export the data to.
3. Select flights to export. Select the appropriate **(3)** checkboxes. It is possible to export the full workspace, assets, inspections, as well as individual flights.

NB: As selections are made, the *Total size to export / available space* will be updated.

4. Click **(4)** *Export*. The destination folder will contain the selected data in a format that can be accessed with Inspector 5.

NB: Clicking *Export All* will export the entire workspace.

### How to open the shared folder in Inspector 5

Once the folder has been shared, there are two options to open the flight data in Inspector. It can be opened as its own workspace, or imported into an existing workspace.

#### **Import as a new workspace:**

It is possible to create a new workspace to view and edit the data within.

1. Open Inspector 5 and select the **(1)** *Assets* tab.

Create a new workspace

2. **Click** the workspace **(2)** dropdown menu.
3. **Click** the **(3)** *Create workspace* button.
4. **Click** the **(4)** *Browse* button and select the shared folder.
5. **Click** the **(5)** *Create* button.

The shared folder is now a workspace. Select the workspace using the **(2)** dropdown menu to access the flights.

#### Import into an existing workspace:

The flights from the shared folder can be imported into any workspace.

Inspector 5 data import screen

Open Inspector 5 and select the workspace to import data into.

1. **Click** the **(1)** *Import* tab and then **click** the **(2)** *Inspector 5* import tab.
2. **Click** the **(3)** check boxes for the flights to import.
3. **Click** the **(4)** *Import* button to import the selected data. If all the flights are needed click the *Import All* button without making any selections.

NB - Use the Move function to move the data to a specific asset as needed.

## Exporting specific flight data

It is possible to export specific data (point clouds, videos, etc.) for easier sharing when only certain files are needed. The exported data will be grouped per flight, making it easier when sharing with end-users not using Inspector. It is also possible to export the necessary files for processing in FARO Connect, along with exporting images from the captured video for processing in photogrammetry software such as PIX4Dmapper.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Warning: The exported data can't be re-imported/opened in Inspector. To archive, use the Workspace export menu instead.
{% endhint %}

### **How to export specific flight data**

It is possible to select and export specific flight data from each flight using the export icon on the right side toolbar.

1. Open Inspector 5 and navigate to the flight with data to share via the **(1)** *Assets* tab.

Inspector 5 export window

2. With the premium software subscription, it is possible to select multiple flights from the same inspection. Click **(2)** *Select* to select the flight/s to export data from. The number of flights selected will be indicated.
3. The **(3)** Flights tab should be selected as default, select if otherwise.
4. Select the **(4)** check box for the associated data to export. Options are:
 * POIs (.jpg)
 * Videos (.MOV)
 * Thermal Video (.mp4)
 * Maps (.las)
 * Trajectory (.csv)
 * UT data (.csv)
5. After making the needed selections click the **(5)** *Export* button to export the data.

The exported data will be grouped per flight.

### **Export images for Photogrammetry / Pix4D**

Use the PIX4D tab to export images from the captured video to process in PIX4D or other photogrammetry software.

2\. Click the **(2)** PIX4D tab. This tab provides an interface to extract images from the flight video to process in photogrammetry software. **(3)** Select the flight for export as needed.

3\. Input parameters and make selections for export.

Available settings:

* Select **(a)** Start at and **(b)** Stop at points of video.
* Select the **(c)** Frame rate - Number of frames extracted per second. Total shows the number of /frames to be extracted for the Frame rate selected.

* **(e)** Export project templates - Toggle to export the project using a selected PIX4D template.
* **(f)** Select the Fast or Robust PIX4D processing template.

4. Click **(4)** Export frames to export and save the data.

### **Export FARO Connect files**
